What kinds of ideas about presentation skills did you think about?
I observed many skills as Sir Ken Robinson gave his presentation. One big one I saw was that he was extremely comfortable with the topic. He was able to just talk to the audience about it and not be nervous about any of it. He involved the audience by using humor and telling jokes. He started about the presentation by telling a joke which in turn lightened the mood for everyone. He related most of the topic to the audience by telling stories that they could all engage in it. He also used repetition of sentences and words to catch his audiences attention as well. I could incorporate everything I saw into my TED talk. I should be relaxed and very knowledgeable of it so I am very comfortable doing it.
How did his talk resonate with you?
His talk resonated me because I deeply believe that the educational system needs to be changed/improved. I do believe that the teachers are a LARGE part of students curriculum because they are the ones that teach it and leave imprints on students brains. I believe that our Genius Hour project is supporting his ideas of improving education because it is keeping students minds on one thing. It is allowing students an hour each week to research what they truly love and or what to learn more about. It is also allowing the students to impact their community by (with the right amount of time) finishing a project and putting it out for all to see. This will help students to understand that education can truly impact someones life, especially if they witness the impacts their project has caused.
